MY SON

Matthew M. Marcuccio

MAY 28, 1989 – NOVEMBER 21, 2020

Matthew Michael Marcuccio, 31, born and raised in Southington CT., passed away on November 21, 2020 from a drug overdose in Bristol CT.

Matthew was a tall, handsome, intelligent, remarkably bright and charismatic person. As a child, he was such a handful! Full of life and personality. The perpetual entertainer, center stage. As an adolescent, he was very artistic, loved music, very charming.

Matthew suffered under the demon of addiction. He started using drugs at 11 years old; spent all of his adult life in active addiction, with prodigious pain/traumas/life crises. Addiction led to unmanageable mental health issues throughout his life as well. Matt died with his family and friends loving him and encouraging him to seek recovery. He is finally at peace, suffering no more, being held in God’s memory.

Matt is survived by his mother, Mary Marcuccio (FL); father, Peter Marcuccio (Bristol); grandmother, Iolanda Marcuccio and many family members in Southington as well as many maternal & paternal aunts, uncles, cousins including Josh Simard & family (Colorado) and Sue Farkas (Terryville).

Calling hours were held Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020 from 4-7 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.  Southington. Burial was at the convenience of the family  www.dellavecchiasouthington.com

In lieu of flowers, his parents requested that considerations should be made in Matthew’s memory, to aid persons in need of help:  donation of monies or goods/food/clothing to a shelter, food pantry, soup kitchen, free long-term drug treatment program (Matthew 25:35-40). They recommend consideration of the following charitable organizations to receive donations: Southington Social Services- Janet Mellon  mellonj@southington.org   860-628-3761; CITA- Lesli or Heather 321-725-5160  Ljsmith@citamission.org; Faith Over Fear Outreach, LLC- Michele Guzman 407-929-5489  faithoverfeargroup@gmail.com

The Tribute
God’s plan for you was not our plan, more grand than mind can grasp
Your earthly death yields celestial life, to this I cling and clasp
Released from pain, your heartache gone, the struggle finally freed
All anguish, shame, laid to rest, your soul can now proceed
Reunited with those who went before, jubilant in hallowed song
Celebration of life, new journey ahead, vibrant, resounding, strong
Transformed are you, an angel now, adorned in robes of white
Dazzling beauty, profound peace, your angelic wings take flight
We find you now in other ways, more subtle than before
You’re in the breeze, hovering ore, lake winds that blow ashore
Your smile is in the sunshine’s rays, your love found everywhere
On hiking paths and snowy slopes, in wafting candlelit prayer
In fragrant blossoms and crisp red leaves that crunch and life renew
In collected droplets on fresh green ferns that come from moonlit dew
We feel you in the nuzzle of a furry devoted friend
Your children’s eyes reflect your love and passions that transcend
Your kisses in the drops of rain, the ocean waves that break
The rustling leaves that whisper love, new life you shall partake
Your eyes gaze down to earth below, no longer look above
Give solace and strength in our grief and loss, a rainbow reveals your love
God, help us in our helplessness, our pain and grief abound
Dear Higher Power, bring us peace in arms that wraparound
